Science

At Abbotskerswell Primary School we believe Science to be a vital part of children’s education. As well as covering a body of knowledge, science helps children to engage with the world around them and see how it functions. Our Science curriculum includes the three major sciences (biology, chemistry and physics) as well as the skills of working scientifically (an overview of these skills can be found below in the ‘Useful Documents’).

In Early Years, Science lessons are taught within the EYFS curriculum, and skills are covered in our ‘Welly Wednesdays’. In Key Stage 1 and 2 Science is taught as a discreet subject on a two-year rolling programme, this rolling programme is available to download from the 'Useful Documents'. We are also really lucky to have Mrs Marbaix with us, who teaches and runs our Forest School sessions. Each year group receives a half terms forest school teaching on a Friday afternoon.

Sex and Relationships Education (SRE) is also taught as part of the Science curriculum. For further information on our SRE curriculum please read our SRE policy from the Policies page.
