Art & Design

Our Art & Design Lead is Miss Lisa Walsh.

The children are encouraged to be spontaneously creative, using a variety of media and techniques in art and craftwork. An awareness of colour, shape, balance, focus and proportion are developed alongside the use of symbols to convey ideas and feelings. The study of a wide range of artists, craftspeople and designers complements this work.

Art & Design is taught with a cross curricular approach with some topics being led by Art & Design. In Key Stage 1 children study 'Sculptures' where children look at a variety of sculptors and their work. In Key Stage 2 when studying the romans the children explored Roman paintings and sketches. They were then able to experiment with a variety of techniques to create their own Roman style drawings.
